What Is Magellang — Learn Languages Through Real Scenarios

Most language apps start with the same thing: a list of words, a matching game, maybe a sentence with a blank to fill in. You do ten minutes a day, collect some points, and move on. Weeks later you land in a new city and freeze the moment someone asks you a question at a coffee counter.

We built Magellang because we think language learning should start with the place, not the textbook.

How It Works

Magellang shows you a live world map filled with real places — cafes, bakeries, hotels, train stations, bookshops, pharmacies, and more. You tap a place, pick the language spoken there, and start a conversation powered by AI.

The conversation isn't generic. It's shaped by where you are. Tap a bakery in Lyon and you'll practice ordering a croissant and asking about today's specials — in French, at your level. Tap a hotel lobby in Tokyo and you'll rehearse checking in, asking about Wi-Fi, or requesting a late checkout — in Japanese.

Every scenario is adapted to your CEFR level (A1 through C2), so beginners get simple, guided exchanges while advanced learners face nuance, idioms, and cultural subtlety.

Why Context Changes Everything

Research on situated learning has shown for decades that memory is deeply tied to context. You remember things better when you learn them in a setting that resembles where you'll use them. A phrase you practiced while imagining yourself in a Roman trattoria is far more likely to surface when you're actually standing in one.

Magellang leans into this. Instead of abstract vocabulary lists, you get scenarios rooted in real geography. The place gives you the words, the motivation, and the mental image — all at once.

What Makes It Different

There's no streak counter. No leaderboard. No cartoon owl. Magellang is built around a simple loop: explore a place, have a conversation, get feedback. The AI gives you a recap after each session — what you did well, where you hesitated, and what to try next time.

You can practice at any place in any country, in any of the supported languages. Whether you're preparing for a trip, maintaining a language you already speak, or just curious about how people talk in Buenos Aires or Seoul — you open the map and start.

Who It's For

Magellang is for anyone who wants language practice that feels real. Travelers preparing for a trip. Expats brushing up on daily interactions. Students who want more than grammar drills. Or anyone who tried the usual apps and felt like something was missing.

If you've ever thought 'I wish I could just practice ordering coffee in Spanish without flying to Madrid' — that's exactly what Magellang does.
